What a shock!
Don't you hate it when 'musicians' explain what their latest song is about using lyrics from the song? I mean if i want to hear the lyrics ummmmmm ill listen to the song, get some more material muso's! An explanation requires a bit more depth...stop being lazy!
I love Melbourne morning radio podcasts! Im rarely able to hear them live, due to actually liking to sleep in (any one else noticed how unpopular this has become?)so i download them and enjoy the comedy in its natural environment, ad and song free!
Noticed how people are drawn to those who absolutely love their jobs? There are few people who have a talent and consuming love for their job, but those who do, seem magical. Two such examples are Keith Richards and Andre Rieu. To watch these musicians in their element is magical and pure joy. While im not huge fan of the later, it doesnt detract from how spellbinding their performances are. Please share your examples if you know what i mean!
Im waving the flag for loyalty (so undervalued in this current global climate) Loyalty in relationships, the workplace, products, and politics is unsung and underappreciated, while im not advocating blind devotion, i am appealing to everyone to be more loyal to those that you value and cherish, and if you are lucky enough to have loyalty bestowed upon you dont take it for granted!

Happy travels xoxo

The Edge

While The Edge is a great name for a member of U2.....it is also the name of my post. Thus named for my current work related state.
I have been waiting for this moment for while, biding time, having fun, wondering when i'd be compelled to make a move. I feel as though im about to make a choice. A choice that will take me on a new path. Im armed with the qualifications and experience....i just need to choose how i wish to continue. Where in the world do i want to live? Do i want to be a travel agent? media or marketing consultant? tourism board or company? Its tough........having a choice....but first step...writing a resume!

I have been motivated by an argument.....i found myself in a situation i shouldnt have been in...i feel i communicated honestly and well...and the response by a manager whom should have known better was less then satisfactory. When you get to the point where work does not challenge or satisfy you..its time to bust a move.....when you no longer respect one person in a position of authority... get out.

While im excited by the future i also feel a little sad. I have literally grown into the person i am with these people. I started working where i do at the tender age of 15, i had no real sense of identity then. I finished school while working here, had my first 'proper' kiss, celebrated many milestones with certain people, went to uni, grieved deaths, found and lost friends.....and loves, and family. I travelled abroad for the first time, found my passions, worked overseas for the first time, discovered who i am and gained the confidence in myself to really live without regret, studied abroad.... just to name a few.

Many of the friends i gained while there have since moved on and i still see/talk with them. Others are still here....and ill miss having them in my day to day life. I am certain though that the people who i ultimately trust, who i have forged a real connection with, will remain in my life wherever i am. They will encourage my resolve to move on.

I stand at The Edge...will i jump?

One day in September

I was just visiting the Lonely Planet website, as you do if your as obsessed with travel as I...and i happened upon this article written by LP founder Tony Wheeler.

Update**** The link is a dumb ass... i tried three times on different computers, no luck, so if interested please just cut n paste:)

His Georgian experience was also part of my Georgian experience.....as i was travelling with him at the time. Not quite the day in september you assumed i meant hailing from Melbourne as i do, but significant non the less.

Be well.

The Good Life

Today im in a chipper mood...yes chipper! While this post may suggest that im smug, it is not the case....im just celebrating an unexpected good mood.....rare as they are.
I had champagne and strawberries for breakfast today. Why? Well, why not? It was great...the strawberries perfect, fresh and flavoured and juicy!
Yesterday i had a fantastic work day! Its true! The high point sitting in the sun at Williamstown with a glass of wine and dips catching up with ex work mates:) in the middle of a Friday afternoon. In the name of earning my dosh, i dub it networking!
The sun is shining, The weather getting better, the perfect time to begin road trip season i believe...all in all life is good for now!

Georgia on my mind....

Dear Georgians,

My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. I send wishes of hope that the fighting will end as soon as possible.
You are a country with much to offer....a country that stamps a unique individuality on each and every citizen.
I have shook your President's hand. Enjoyed your famous hospitality. Walked your streets. Stayed in your homes. Danced to your music. climbed your mountains. Been to your churches. Spoken to your people. Cab drivers. teenagers. Government officials. tour guides. bar tenders..... and i feel a connection with you in this time of hostility in your country.

We are with you.

Be well.

Exciting.......no really!

Last night i embraced my geekish nature and that of some good friends:) and trotted off to see the new X-Files movie. While it was better then the reviews said, which isnt saying much really.....and it didnt leave me craving more.....it was enjoyable, but entirely forgettable. Sigh. So much potential. And the bit after the credits...WTF? But overall not a bad effort...

Woke up to rain today. Planning on fully embracing the rainylazysunday lifestyle. Slept in. Reading. Watching tv. cooking etc. if i am motivated enough i may laundry!
Im re-loving peppermint tea and plan to drink way too much of it today!

Random confessions....

I love Musicals........Way. Too. Much.
While of course the more fantastic the better....even mediocre musicals cause joy and rapture from my end. Theatre musicals, movie musicals...all good.
If i had the option of joyously and/or torturously bursting into song at random intervals in real life...i would. Its true. Sigh.

I love gossip mags and online gossip sites. I watch Gossip Girl online. I read the Gossip Girl books before they became cool for teens. If you mention this to me in real life i may have to deny it! Its a guilty pleasure of mine. Top secret, very embarrassing. Obviously!

I just watched "The Celebrity Singing Bee" and..............enjoyed it. Oh the shame.

I have now ruined any credibility i may have enjoyed. Hmmmm....who am i kidding....i was never credible:) So with my head hung in shame i will bid you dear reader, adieu!

This week in review

* I found my ideal teapot! Purple with a gold rim and spout...and a price tag of $400. Ill be admiring from afar me thinks.

*I am frustrated and upset by the lack of loyalty and gumption shown by certain people i work with. I would love to build a bridge and get over it....however i dwell, im an expert dweller..and i just cant believe how brain numbingly oblivious some people can be.

*This week i've reacquainted myself with Madonna's The Immaculate Collection..is it still 1983? I think not...but still loving the pure pop pleasure of classic 80's Madge.

*Its often surprising who you just naturally click with...and with who you have to work at clicking with...and with who you can have an entire conversation with without uttering a word. Its been a week of conversations, to be sure, both spoken and not so spoken:)

*Its sometimes the little things that make a week. A nice new nail polish, a smile, a crisp apple, an unexpected email. Then again its hard to miss the big things.

Post over...go play:)

Whats up next?

I am looking forward to visiting Chapel St antique market, Borders and seeing the Sex and the city movie tomorrow.
I am looking forward to a pre-show lunch with the girls and seeing Guys and Dolls at the theatre on sunday.
I am not looking forward to dragging myself into work on Saturday afternoon-it takes more effort then every other day
And you?

Getting to know me.....

Random info:

* I have loved the word "quixotic" ever since i heard it in 'The Importance of Being Ernest' by Oscar Wilde.

* I love the purple and red jelly babies and snakes the most...and when you combine their powers, wow!

* My dream travel destinations (in no particular order) are: Turkey, Cuba, Moscow, Morocco, Mongolia and Oman.

* I know my lifetime will be too short to accomplish everything i want to do-however it doesnt stop me being rather lazy.

* I dont actually like Carrie from 'Sex and the City'....its true....now awaiting the hate mail!

* I was born at the Queen Victoria Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.

* Im currently undertaking a search for my ideal teapot! If you've seen the 'Madison Lifestyle' book, its the purple one with the gold rim....and if you can tell me where to find one, ill be very grateful.
